It’s been awhile since I posted anything, but that is for another blog ;) After all of the recent violence in the news, especially towards those of color or uniform, I felt compelled to write. At a friend’s family gathering the weekend before much of the outbreaks, the discussion of upcoming school options for our daughter (who is about to embark upon kindergarten) arose. I mentioned home school as always an option, but for now, she will probably attend public school next month. The conversation moved to why home school – to prevent interracial relationships? (I internally gasped at the question…) I am assuming they meant as a precaution for dating which my daughter is definitely not of age. But my reaction was NO – I don’t care what race she will date or marry if he is a God-fearing, loving man – I will home school to, yes, protect her from being deceived in education, however. That is the purpose of school anyway, correct? Not just a social function but to learn and prepare for the future.
The media has put so much evidence on the news-front regarding black verses white, cops verses criminals, deaths of seemingly innocent men who only to be revealed by a pressured media after much spark and upheaval, the fact they were men with records or disobeying an officer with a gun already drawn upon them. Look around, friends, at the distractions the government is ploying against us! Notice the timing of the stories of racism! There is an agenda that runs deep and stems from years past, coming to a head in our time. We must seek togetherness, forgiveness, uniting as one people, not by race, religion, sexual orientation, etc. Separatist hashtags and marches divide us further and only draw judgement and hate. Our very future and freedom depend on unity.
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.” -Colossians 3:12-14
